During the next 48 hours, two big pieces of space debris are expected to re-enter Earth's atmosphere: a 2000 kg Centaur rocket body on Feb. 3rd and a 2500 kg Delta III rocket body on Feb. 4th. ANATOMY OF A COMET:
Backyard astronomers watching Comet Lulin approach Earth are getting a nice lesson in the anatomy of comets. Regard this photo taken Feb. 2nd by Italian observer Rolando Ligustri:
The green ball in the middle is the comet's atmosphere or coma. It measures about 500,000 km across, more than three times wider than the planet Jupiter. The coma is richly laced with cyanogen (CN) and diatomic carbon (C2), two gases that glow green when exposed to sunlight in the near-vacuum of space.
To the right of the coma is the comet's ion tail. It is a wispy streamer of ionized gas pushed away from the comet by solar wind. The ion tail points almost directly away from the sun.
To the left of the coma is the comet's dust tail. Like Hansel and Gretel leaving bread crumbs to mark their path through the forest, Comet Lulin is leaving a trail of comet dust as it moves through the solar system. Compared to the lightweight molecules in the ion tail, grains of comet dust are heavier and harder for solar wind to push around. The dust tends to stay where it is dropped. The dust tail therefore traces the comet's curved orbit and does not point directly away from the sun as the ion tail does. Intrepid Spacecraft Enroute To Rendezvous With Comet Tempel 1
On January 14, NASA's Stardust-NExT spacecraft will fly by Earth during a gravity assist maneuver that will increase its velocity and sling shot the spacecraft into an orbit to meet up with comet Tempel 1 in February 2011.
Flight operations for the spacecraft are performed from Lockheed Martin's Mission Support Area in Denver, CO. The Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, CA provides the precision navigation need for the flyby and the journey to Tempel 1.
The Lockheed Martin-built spacecraft's closest approach will happen at 12:33 p.m. MST as it comes within 5,690 miles of Earth. At its closest point, the spacecraft will fly over the California/Mexico border south of San Diego at a speed of approximately 22,400 miles per hour (36,000 kilometer per hour).
"We performed our final trajectory correction maneuver on January 5 that put us into a precise position for the flyby," said Allan Cheuvront, Stardust-NExT program manager at Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company. "On January 10, we sent the last set of commands to the spacecraft that it will use to perform the gravity assist maneuver. We're in great shape and we're looking forward to seeing Stardust fly by before it heads back into deep space."
This isn't the first time Stardust has flown by Earth. The first was January 15, 2001 when it used the Earth for a gravity assist to meet up with comet Wild 2. Five years later on January 15, 2006, the spacecraft flew by Earth as it released its sample return capsule safely back to Earth, which held particles from comet Wild 2 and interstellar dust.
The Stardust-NExT (New Exploration of Tempel) mission is a low-cost mission that will expand the investigation of comet Tempel 1 initiated by NASA's Deep Impact spacecraft. The mission uses the still-healthy Stardust spacecraft to perform a flyby of comet Tempel 1 and obtain high-resolution images of the coma and nucleus, as well as measurements of the composition, size distribution, and flux of dust emitted into the coma. Stardust-NExT will also provide important new information on how Jupiter family comets evolve and how they formed 4.6 billion years ago.

The New Hampshire state legislature took an unbelievably bold step
today by introducing a resolution to declare certain actions by the
federal government to completely totally void and warning that
certain future acts will be viewed as a "breach of peace" with the
states themselves that risks "nullifying the Constitution. "
This act by New Hampshire is a clear warning to the federal
government that they could face being stripped of their power by the

The Ciskei government was ruled by a Army General, who like any other military leader enjoyed expensive toys. Betreff: PORTS OF CALL Convair 990...DENVER STAPLETON AIRPORT....CIA FRONTPorts of Call operated a hanger and passenger lounge at Stapleton Airport for several years..it was located at the S/W corner of the airport,at Montview Blvd and Syracuse St.The facility was tucked in close to these streets and this very aircraft used to be chocked just about 100 yds from the street edge chainlink fence so it was very easy to see the very serial numbers that are on the tail in this photo.I remember this aircraft well because it was there numerous times when I would drive by. As I recall...PoC had 3 of these 990's.I always thought that the Convair 990 was a beautiful aircraft and the 990 was the fastest of the new 4 engine jet airliners back in the early 60's..Mach .92 if I recall.Back in 1984..just as PoC was starting operations..I fabricated two Avonite tables for the Ports of Call lounge....I still remember the color..cranberry. A past woodworking shop landlord of mine,Tom Mars,a pilot with the original Denver based FRONTIER AIRLINES--he used to fly C-46's for AIR AMERICA back in the early 60's and flying out of DaNang Air Base where I was once stationed....he also had cockpit time in this very same plane on several occasions and he told me some of the places that this plane would fly to with the "party people" on board...it was a flying party of booze,broads and drugs. Some of these places:Costa Rica,Honduras,Guatemala,Mexico,Bahamas,Panama,Belize,Puerto Rico,Jamaica. Now to put this information in the proper light....this was going on at the height of IRAN/CONTRA,the HUD frauds,and the looting of the SAVINGS and LOANS and with huge amounts of money..in the 100's of BILLIONS..being laundered through dozens of banks in Denver Metro and "paper flips" with countless large construction projects and huge home and mall developments in Colorado,Arizona,Nevada--numerous other locations....I used to own a home just 9 blocks from SILVERADO SAVINGS and Neil Bush's CIA money laundering activities. This very plane was one of the planes that was hauling TONS of cocaine into Denver-or other airports-and then hauling TONS of arms to Central America and TONS of cash to offshore banks in many of the countries I listed. Some party,huh? Ports of Call is mentioned in numerous books that have been published after the collapse of the S&L's and the exposure of Iran/Contra..a number of which I've read and needless to say..it was confirming my feelings from this time period that Ports of Call was INDEED....CIA. One more note...Ports of Call was the air charter operation that was preferred to fly the DENVER BRONCOS to out of town games....oh yea..I almost forgot--I've met Bob Resling before at my shop when he came by to check me out back in 1993 because I was doing laser engraved aircraft plaques...Bob was the Flight Director for PoC and PoC went defunct in 1994 but I've found out that Resling has revived the operation back in 2000 and is using the same Ports of Call name with operations out of Jefferson County Airport--flying a BAC 1-11....Resling is a USAF Academy grad('67) who flew C-130's in Viet Nam/SEA and is a retired Colonel who was the Maintenance Officer for the 302nd Airlift Wing(C-130's) at Peterson AFB in Colorado Springs...where NORTHCOM is headquartered....Tim White,Viet Nam Vet(USAF)Concerned Citizen,Researcher,Investigator,Whistleblower
