--Cause of death unclear 02 Feb 2009 The body of a missile combat crew commander from the Minot Air Force Base was found by police, and the cause of his death is under investigation, the Air Force says. A statement issued by the base Sunday said the body of Capt. Jonathan Bayless, 28, was found Friday night. Police did not give details and they are awaiting autopsy results. Col. warheads mounted on Advanced Cruise Missiles and
then flown from Minot Air Force Base in North

According to sources, a group of officers within
the US Air Force became aware of the theft of
these missiles and their nuclear warheads and
intercepted them at Barksdale.
After this event somehow leaked to the media, the
story began to change. Military.com removed their
original report after I exposed the missing nuke
error.
Importantly, I gathered a second source fron MSNBC
to confirm the 5 nuke blunder.
White House apparently scrambled to concoct a
story to account for the theft. They came up with
a lulu. They told us it was all a 'mistake'. The
six nuclear warheads had been mistakenly mounted
on Advanced Cruise Missiles, which were then
mistakenly mounted on the wings of the B-52, and
then mistakenly flown to Louisiana. If we are to
believe the White House's absurd story, nobody
among the crew of the bomber was even aware of the
deadly cargos attached to the wings of their
aircraft.
I reported the nukes were missing then Madsen
claimed they were intercepted by
renegade officers of the US Air Force who are
opposed to attacking Iran with nuclear warheads in
a plan that was devised and was being allegedly
overseen by Dick Cheney. According to Madsen, a
U.S. attack on Iran using nuclear weapons was
scheduled to coincide with Israel's September 6
air attack on a reputed Syrian nuclear facility in
Dayr az-Zwar in northern Syria. The interception
of the nuclear warheads apparently caused the
White House cabal to defer an American
coordination with the Israeli attack until such
time as the problem of the intercepted nukes was
resolved on the domestic front.
I also came up with an astounding revelation that
has been ignored by our controlled media. I
pondered the thought of people connected to the
theft maybe being silenced, so I did research on
dead Air Force solders and put together the first
astonishing video report here on L.L.
I was the first to indicate that six
members of the US Air Force who were directly
involved in loading or transporting the missiles,
were killed within 7 days of the Barksdale
interception. Their deaths have been ruled
'accidents'. I repeat, these deaths happened
within 7 days of the incident! The odds against
this happening are mind boggling.
The victims according to CLG include Airman First
Class Todd Blue, 20, who died while on leave in
Virginia. A husband and wife from Barksdale Air
Force Base were killed on Shreveport-Blanchard
Highway while riding a motorcycle. Adam Barrs, a
20-year-old airman from Minot Air Force Base was
killed in a crash on the outskirts of the city.
First Lt. Weston Kissel, 28, a Minot Air Force
Base bomber pilot, was killed in a motorcycle
crash in Tennessee. Police found the body of a
missing Air Force captain John Frueh near Badger
Peak in northeast Skamania County, Washington.

It has been surmised by many that those directing
the nuclear thefts embarked on a cleanup operation
to silence any persons who were not part of the
conspiracy but had knowledge of exactly what had
gone down at Minot and Barksdale Air Force Bases.
It defies common sense to come up with any other
explanation for the six deaths, a figure that may
already be out of date. Any further deaths may
quite possibly be kept from the media.

Somewhere between the Minot and Barksdale, the
plane landed to deliver one missile with its
warhead.
In my humble opinion, the people who have that
nuke and missile in hand are quite possibly
planning a second 9/11 to complete the grand
design they call a New world Order. It was on
9/11/91

where they were headed. We
now may be on the precipice of the final act in
the creation of a new Empire Amerika.
I have never more sincerely wanted to be proved
wrong. I hope my reasoning is crazy, my facts are
what they are, and I'm merely going through the

Mount Asama volcano erupted near Tokyo early today, spewing a plume of ash and smoke more than a mile (1.6 kilometers) high and raining ash down on parts of the city. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
Mount Asama is approximately 90 miles (145 kilometers) northwest of Tokyo which erupted at 1:51 am (0451 GMT) Monday, according to Japan's Meteorological Agency. Chunks of rock from the explosion were found about 3,300 feet (1,000 meters) away from the volcano.
An alert level of three was issued as ash fell on nearby areas. Alert level three urges nearby residents to take caution, and was kept in place for a 2.5 mile (4 kilometer) radius. Alert level four advises residents to prepare for evacuation, while level five, the highest, orders evacuation, according to the agency.

CDC Warns Flu Epidemic May Hit The US Within Next 2 Weeks
Washington, D.C. (AHN) - A widespread outbreak of flu has been reported in Virginia, according to the Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention. It is the first state to report an outbreak, which the CDC observed was on a slow start.
But CDC epidemiologist Anthony Fiore warned the U.S. might be hit by the chronic winter ailment within the next two weeks.
Aside from Virginia, the CDC reported localized flu outbreaks in Maryland and the District of Columbia based on its weekly polls. Virginia Department of Health epidemiologist Laura Ann Nicolai forecasts high incidents of flu cases in the state for the next six to eight weeks with the ailment running into March, April and even May.
Flu symptoms include fever, aching muscles, headache, dry cough, sore throat and lack of energy.
According to the CDC, flu vaccine manufacturers had shipped in lots the shots for the 2008-09 flu season as early as August 2008 and it should distributed by end of November. The manufacturers estimate 143 to 146 million doses of flu vaccine will be available for the current influenza season.

A Daly City couple is beaming after becoming the proud parents of a healthy but incredibly rare baby boy this month.Baby Kamani Hubbard has six-fully formed and functional fingers and toes on his hands and feet. It's called “polydactyly” -- extra digits -- not an uncommon genetic trait, but Bay Area doctors say they've never seen a case so remarkable.
Born at San Francisco's Saint Luke's Hospital three weeks ago, Hubbarb seemed so perfect at birth no one noticed.
“Nurses and doctors, looked so normal they couldn't tell, they told me he was six pounds in good health, that was all they said,” said Miryoki Gross, Hubbard’s mother.
But his dad Kris Hubbard noticed this spectacularly rare case of polydactyly: 6-perfect fingers on each hand and 6-perfect toes on each foot, which went well beyond a general trait that runs in his family.
“Some family member have had six fingers, not completely developed. But not the toes,” said Kris Hubbard, 34 and a postal worker.
In fact Kris Hubbard himself had nubs of sixth fingers removed as a child as these non-functional digits routinely are.
But Hubbards case is so vanishingly rare according to doctors, and because the extra digits are functional, it's not a deformity to be discarded.
“It's merely an interesting and beautiful variation rather than a worrisome thing,” said Dr. Michael Treece and St. Luke's Hospital Pediatrician. “I would be tempted to leave those fingers in place. I realize children would tease each other over the slightest things, and having extra digits on each hand is more than slight. But imagine what sort of a pianist a 12-fingered person would be imagine what sort of a flamenco guitarist, if nothing else think of their typing skills.”
Kamani's mother says she hasn't had time to absorb this; her baby's specialness didn't even show up on prenatal ultrasounds.
“ I heard nothing before I gave birth so I'm still in shock, kinda,” said Gross.
“I just want him to see what greatness will be in store for him,” said Kris Hubbard.

On his first full day as President, Barack Obama issued two Executive
Orders and three Presidential Memorandum that will start an era of
transparent and Open Government.
The White House Office of the Press Secretary released a statement
outlining the sweeping changes to be implemented by the Obama
administration.
In his Presidential Memorandumon Transparency and Open Government, and
the
Presidential Memorandum on the Freedom of Information Act, President
Obama instructed all members of his administration to operate under
principles of openness, transparency and of engaging citizens with their
government.
To implement these principles and make them concrete, the Memorandum on
Transparency instructs three senior officials to produce an Open
Government Directive within 120 days directing specific actions to
implement the principles in the Memorandum.
And the Memorandum on FOI Ainstructs the Attorney General to in that
same time period issue new guidelines to the government implementing
those same principles of openness and transparency in the FOIA context.
President Obama emphasized that his Administration is committed to
creating an unprecedented level of openness in Government.
He further more said in apress conference announcing his Memoranda:
For along time now, there's been too much secrecy in this city. The old
rules said that if there was a defensible argument for not disclosing
something to the American people, then it should not be disclosed. That
era is now over. Starting today, every agency and department should know
that this administration stands on the side not of those who seek to
withhold information but those who seek to make it known.

“I am 39 years old with three children and my father is now 72. He was one of the last people to have been conscripted to national service, serving as navigator on RAF Shackleton aircraft in 1957, flying missions over Europe and much of South America. The official job of the Shackleton was as a spotting aircraft, and both pilot and crew were highly trained in this respect; their job was to search for submarines and relay the positions back to base. One of the tell-tale signs they used to look for [from] high above was a dark shape underwater, which could often be a shark or whale or other creature, but occasionally they would get lucky and find a submarine near to the surface. On one occasion, having seen such a dark shape near the surface, they flew down to investigate, and as they flew by this shape, every crew member on board saw the same thing – the neck and head of a large sea creature protruding from the surface. The nearest thing they could think of at the time was a plesiosaur. They were all in agreement but of course the pilot on the way home forbade them absolutely from talking about it; if they had done so they would all have been immediately grounded and accused of being drunk on duty.
“So anyway, my father decided to research what the creature might have been, and found that it was almost definitely an ‘elasmosaurus’ [long-necked plesiosaur], as the one thing that was very obvious was the huge length of the animal’s neck. My father was forced to conclude, and of course he’d read all about the cœlacanth, that there were indeed much larger ‘extinct’ creatures out there, unknown to science. He told me of the incident when I reached adulthood. Twenty years on, he still will swear to his grave that this is what they all saw on the flight…
“The year was 1957, the location was ‘about 500 miles [800km] north of the Canary Islands, in open sea’. The RAF Squadron was 228 Squadron, flying out of St Eval in Cornwall. (This air base has since been closed, but I believe remnants of the site remain.) I don’t know who the other crewmembers were and I have been thinking about making an official enquiry to the RAF archives. However, what I hope is important is the location (vague, sorry), species and date. I am more than aware that most scientists consider the possibility of any large dinosaur [sic] still alive as astronomically small, and my father himself also thinks now with sadness that he might have seen one of the last ones; his own reasoning is that at this point, not so long after the war, there really was not much shipping around; indeed, the area where they had the sighting was entirely devoid of shipping and maybe this was the reason the creature had considered it safe to surface, far from the throb of ships’ propellers.”
One zoologist who read Nick’s account suggested that perhaps they had seen a tentacle from a giant squid rise above the water surface, but Nick’s father emphatically discounted any such possibility. RAF Navigator Claims Sighting of Dinosaur-Like Sea Serpent

A cold January wind blew across the Clay County ground on Saturday night, raising goose bumps on the back of necks, and perhaps sweeping in with it spirits of a forgotten past.
That was the atmosphere at the old Clay County Jail, which is located in the historic triangle of Clay County in Green Cove Springs, and has sat empty for over 30 years now. Passionate ghost hunters from the group Catch Any Paranormal Event dissected the building with hopes of observing a being from another realm.
Walking into the jail, the age of the building truly showed itself. The paint on the walls was peeling, and everyone was warned not to touch it due to the fact that it was lead-based.
The cells were all fairly small, only large enough to house 2-3 inmates in each. They contained fold down beds, and a toilet and sink in each. There were mannequins spread throughout the jail. They were dressed in striped jumpsuits, the common garb seen on prisoners of the time period. Their blank eyes stared back at you, and you felt that every step you took in the ancient corridors was being watched by a presence not of this world.
The jail is two stories, and the staircase that leads to the second floor looked as rickety as a metal staircase could get. Even after being reassured that it had been recently re-welded, but walking up it took courage. You could feel the anxiety of the prisoners of the past, while they were being led to their cells, and perhaps one of them was seeking some mischievous revenge.
The cells on the second floor had the same layout as the ones below, with the exception of some cells that had been added on in the 1920’s. A section of the ceiling had fallen in, leaving plaster all over the floor. Walking up and down the narrow corridor in between the cells created sounds similar to bones cracking.
It took time for the group to get prepared, and anticipation was growing thick in the air. The electricity kept cutting in and out, causing the lights to flicker on and off. It felt as if something was beckoning us in. Then the command was given, and the lights were turned off for good, and the investigation began.
Al and Wanda Thackrah are the ringleaders of Orlando-based C.A.P.E. They have been hunting ghosts for about 20 years.
"Years ago, I used to be a commercial diver on the St. Lawrence Seaway," Al Thackrah said. "I used to go on treasure hunting exhibitions on the St. Lawrence, and with treasure you get the paranormal. That’s how I got started."
C.A.P.E. uses different techniques to see spirits. They set up infrared cameras and audio monitors to catch any images or sounds created by the supernatural. Their members walk around the haunted structure taking flash photos with digital cameras, and using Electromagnetic Field Monitors to detect ghosts.
"E.M.F. monitors are set off by electronic fields, and get interfered with by wiring and cell phones," a team member explained. "So if it goes off in a building with no power flow and no electronics it can show us that there is a presence."
The group is made up of about a dozen members, ranging all ages. The Duco family has been ghost hunting for around two years now. Carlos, his wife Marilyn, and their son Daniel have all had experiences with the paranormal.
"I was touched while on a ghost tour in St. Augustine," said Carlos. "It was a still night, and bug free. I was taking a picture and it felt like a hand brushed my neck, but no one was around. I asked the guide and he told me other people had had the same experience."
His wife Marilyn told about how their son had gotten locked in a garage in a haunted structure while nobody was around. When asked, Daniel refused to talk about the experience.
The group also conducted an investigation at the Little Ruth Church Graveyard, which is located four miles south of Green Cove Springs. The process was the same as in the jail, but the atmosphere was much more tranquil. There were no initial findings, and the dead seemed to be resting peacefully.
The group wrapped up their investigation at the jail around 1:30 a.m., and are still reviewing and debunking the material for utmost accuracy. It will be a week before the group releases any information about the jail and it being haunted or not, but this is to insure utmost accuracy.
The old Clay County jail was erected in 1894, and additions were built in the 1920’s. It is the second oldest jail in the State of Florida. Two known executions were carried out at the jail, one in 1903 and the other in 1924. Gallows were erected where the parking lot is now.

On January 22nd I had a major operation. They opened a 13 centimer section of my spinal cord and removed a tumour. The doctors say they have never, in thousands of operations, ever seen a tumour like it.
It looks like a salamander and has clearly defined eyes and a tail. I took a picture of it with my cell phone camera.
It may be what was responsible for the weird visions I had of the nature of the universe. Since it was on my spinal cord it was directly attached to my brain.
As I said before, it has what appears to be eyes and a mouth and the doctors reported some hard matter (spine?) in the tail of the creature. It was 8.3 cm long.
I have asked the doctors for hi rez pictures. It has been sent to a lab for testing but results are not expected for 10 days. However, one of the doctors told me the tail seemed to have a bony structure in it. That is not something you would expect to find in a tumour made of nerve cells. Also, you can see what look like eyes. This really is bizzare.
By the way, I feel just fine except for the fact they sawed open my back-bone.

The Haunted Church of the Knights Templar - St. John Church, Duxford, Cambridgeshire
Chris Halton states: Haunted Earth recently visited the ancient medieval church of St John which was built by the Knight`s Templar who were responsible for the Hospital Chapel of St John which was recently visited by us.
This church is an embodiment of Old England and has survived the test of time to be one of the best preserved medieval buildings in the United Kingdom.
The building as you will discover has some dark secrets to reveal, and hopefully you`ll join us as we enter this ancient portal to a time long since forgotten.
Some strange events occured during the recording of this investigation.
Firstly, a pair of professional mic`s used to link wireless audio to a camcorder failed to operate despite being checked prior to use, and on another camcorder the video quality was diminished from normal creating a jagged movement effect on some video.
However after much editing and audio stripping I have managed to create a reasonably cohesive video presentation.

The striking medieval and earlier wall paintings are only one of the many treasures and curiosities that make a visit to this church rewarding. The paintings on the west wall of the chancel are probably the most graphic. There are scenes from the crucifixion of Christ, a graphic picture of St Agatha’s martyrdom, some horrid devils and a bizarre segmental creature being prodded with sticks or forks. Fragments of paintings cover most of the other walls.
The church is originally Norman, and has a magnificent doorway of that period, with a carved zigzag pattern round its arch. The lead ‘spike’ that rises from the tower is very typical of churches in this part of the country. Its top was twisted in 1897 when a flagpole tied to it, to celebrate Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee, was blown about in a gale. Inside, massive Norman arches support the central tower. Both inside and out, it is worth looking at the exquisite carvings. Those in the north aisle include human faces, angels and strange creatures. A rare link with the past is provided by the graffiti scratched into the stonework over the centuries, many of which are very old, as you can see from the dates, and the fact that some are in Latin. There are also strange marks cut into the stone in various places around the church, where people used to sharpen their arrows in the Middle Ages. Set in a pretty village next to the green and surrounded by attractive old houses, St John’s is a picture-book church with a delightful atmosphere.The Houses of Knights Templar history at the Preceptory of Duxford can be found at British-History.ac.uk

Bush continues family tradition of doing business with "I.G. Farben"
Secretaries Leavitt, Chertoff, pass pending pandemic torch to Obama

Outgoing Bush administration Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Mike
Leavitt and Department of Homeland Security director Mike Chertoff provided
the Obama transition team’s "Homeland Security Council" with their the
50-page report, "Assessment of States’ Operating Plans to Combat Pandemic
Influenza" (Jan., 2009).
In the report, BOTH Leavitt and Chertoff issued a joint statement; declaring
that "the pandemic threat is real and continuing, irrespective of how the
perception of the threat may wax or wane over time."
The information presented in this report, combined with an accompanying
press release and periodic media hype, indicate that a premeditated,
human-created global influenza pandemic is still under consideration.
Concurrent with the release of the report, HHS Secretary Leavitt also issued
a press release Jan. 11, 2009, announcing that the Bush administration had
approved a "$487 million dollar contract with Novartis Pharmaceutical of
Basel, Switzerland, to build the first U.S. Manufacturing facility for
cell-based influenza vaccine in North Carolina.
To understand the true nature of this "new construction" one needs to
understand the history of Novartis Pharmaceuticals Inc. And how the new
facility fits into the development of cell-based influenza vaccine which, I
believe, will be used to trigger (rather than prevent) a global influenza
pandemic.
Novartis was created in 1996 from the merger of Ciba-Geigy and Sandoz
Laboratories, both Swiss pharmaceutical companies.
Ciba-Geigy and Sandoz were originally German entities and integral pillars
of the massive Rothschild and Rockefeller "Syndicate of Dyestuff-Industry
Corporations" (the German translation for which is "InteressenGemeinsc haft
Farben," better known as "I.G. Farben"). Scholars of Hitler’s rise to power
have long credited massive corporate capital transferred via I.G. Farben’s
Swiss Corporate banking accounts as the primary vehicle that financed the
Third Reich. In fact, it was Sandoz Lab’s Swiss accounts that enabled
investigators to successfully indict Prescott Bush (GHW’s father and GW’s
grandfather) under the "Trading with the Enemy Act" in 1948 for
collaborating with the Nazis in WWII.
Furthermore, it was established that in 1938, a new "wonder drug" was
developed at Sandoz labs and tested by Dr. Josef Mengele et. Al. In German
concentration camps. This 1938 "wonder drug" is known today as lysergic acid
diethylamide (LSD) 25 and with the expatriation of Nazi scientists to the U
S. Under "Operation Paper Clip" in 1945, experimentation with LSD and human
mind control techniques continued in America under the CIA’s "MK Ultra"
program.
And now Novartis, the Swiss pharmaceutical company with I.G. Farben/
Ciba-Geigy and Sandoz roots and their historical relationship with the Bush
family, was awarded a Bush administration- approved contract to continue the
development of cell-based influenza vaccine on American soil. The new
cell-based flu vaccines being developed by Novartis are developed from human
kidney cells rather than chicken embryo cells. As previously reported in The
IO (July, 2008), the kidney cells Novartis has been using to propagate its
cell-based influenza vaccine were harvested from impoverished Chinese
peasants.
Published medical literature describes how the harvested human kidney cells
are chemically preserved before finally being injected with a weaponized
form of the 1918 "Spanish flu" pathogen, which has characteristics which
could be called "avian." In this medium the virus grows until harvested and
placed into vials as a "bird flu" vaccine. Also reported in the July, 2008
edition of The IO is the fact that Leavitt, using his "emergency powers" as
HHS secretary, has already licensed this untested, experimental vaccine for
production and deployment by government agencies though the vaccine has not
been approved for sale in the private sector.

Asian plantation workers face weedkiller health threat

HONG KONG (Reuters) - Malaysian plantation worker Rajam Murugasu became blind in one eye after she slipped and accidentally sprayed the weedkiller paraquat in her face.
"It was raining. I fell down and the chemical shot straight into my eye," said Murugasu, a 40-year-old mother of four. "I was in and out of hospital for a whole year," she told Reuters at Teluk Intan town in northwestern Malaysia.
Paraquat, a herbicide that protects crop yields by killing weeds that compete for water, nutrients, and light, is banned in the European Union and restricted to licensed users in the United States, New Zealand and parts of Latin America.
Yet it is widely used in China, India, the Philippines as well as Malaysia, where the government reversed a ban in 2006 after growers demanded they be allowed to use the cheap herbicide.
"Paraquat has serious implications for one's health and there is no antidote. It is not right for a human to be handling it," said Irene Fernandez of Tenaganita, a rights group in Malaysia.
Paraquat, which contains quaternary ammonium compound, is classified by the World Health Organization (WHO) as moderately hazardous for acute toxicity. Other herbicides are less toxic. It accounts for up to 70 percent of the chemicals used to fight weeds at plantations in Malaysia, activists say.
"There are less harmful weed killers around and we should get rid of such toxic pesticides," said Fernandez.
"It is banned in all of the EU, so why are people in Asia putting up with this? Why such double standards? Are our lives of less value than theirs?"
Swiss paraquat manufacturer Syngenta insists the herbicide is safe and that eye protectors are required only when the weedkiller is being mixed and loaded into sprayers.
In an email reply to questions from Reuters, Syngenta said it had comprehensive data showing paraquat was safe to use.
On plantations in Malaysia, workers carry canisters of paraquat on their backs, spraying up to four gallons a day.
The wind blows the chemical into the workers' faces and leaky canisters mean their feet and clothes get soaked with the chemical, human rights activists say.
Paraquat is absorbed through the skin and rights groups say workers who are exposed to it suffer from illnesses that range from rashes and nail loss to respiratory and kidney diseases.
There were 256 pesticide and herbicide poisoning cases in Malaysia in 1997; 183 cases in 1998; 266 cases in 1999 and 339 cases in 2000, according to a 1997-2000 study by the ministry of health. It found that the most common pesticide poisoning cases were due to paraquat.
Paraquat is widely used across Africa, Asia and Latin America. Rights groups say poisonings and fatalities regularly occur, although they have no detailed figures. Continued...

On Friday, August 18, 2006, the FDA approved a viral cocktail to be sprayed on foods we eat. This is the first time viruses have been approved for use as food additives. The FDA wants you to believe it will be safe to consume these viruses every day for the rest of your life with no adverse health effects. This is a monumental announcement by the FDA, indicating they are throwing all caution to the wind regarding the safety of our food supply.
Are you willing to stand in line for a virus-laden sandwich? How do you like the idea of buying virus-infested food for your family? The first virally contaminated foods entering our food supply with the blessings of the FDA will be luncheon meat and poultry. Live viruses will be sprayed on foods such as cold cuts, sausages, hot dogs, sliced turkey, and chicken.
At issue is the very real problem of a poor quality FDA-approved food supply that is already full of diseased and sickly animals, many of them imported from other countries. The use of antibiotics during growth and radiation during food processing is required by the fast-food animal farms owned by multi-national companies to cover up the horrendous health of the animals they wish to feed to Americans. Animals in poor health are a friendly place for bacteria to grow and prosper, especially after such meat goes to market. Rather than address the source of the problem, the FDA wants to add another adulteration into our food supply.
The stated goal of the new FDA-approved viruses is to kill a rare bacterium known as Listeria monocytogenes. This bacterium is killed by cooking; however, it poses a problem in meats that are cooked during processing and not cooked again prior to consumption, so it can readily infect foods such as deli meats.
Yes, the FDA plans to use one infectious organism to fight another. The carnage of battle will end up in your digestive tract along with the victorious live viruses, which the FDA assures us will not attack human cells. However, they cannot possibly be certain the viruses will not attack the friendly bacteria that make up the lining of your digestive tract. The FDA approval was based on scant human testing, mostly from unrelated medical experiments. Such safety data is woefully inadequate to determine safe ingestion of a specific product by humans over the course of a lifetime.
Turning Loose the Bacteria-Killing Viruses
The company that produces these biotech viruses is Baltimore-based Intralytix, Inc. The viruses are known as bacteriophages, viruses that kill bacteria, or phages for short. Phages have been around a long time, living as parasites inside many bacteria.
FDA to Approve Genetically Engineered Animals; Treat Them as Corporate Intellectual Property

(NaturalNews) The FDA has adopted new rules allowing companies to sell genetically modified animals and their products on the market, and affirming that the DNA of such animals is private property that can be held under patent.
To be approved, any genetically modified animal product must be proven to the FDA's satisfaction to be safe for human use in a process similar to that undergone by new drugs. Clinical trials like those needed for drugs will not be required, however. The FDA must also show that any genetically modified animal is healthy.
No FDA approval will be required for cloned animals or those intended only for research or as pets.
The new rules immediately drew harsh criticism from a wide spectrum of opponents. Experts objected to the FDA's decision to allow the approval process to remain secret in order to protect the financial interests of companies that hold patents on genetically modified animals and their DNA. Environmental and consumer advocates also criticized the rules for ignoring the potential environmental impacts of genetically modified animals.
"Drugs don't go out and breed with each other. When a drug gets loose, you figure you can control it. When a bull gets loose, it would be harder to corral," said Jaydee Hanson from the Center for Food Safety.
Others criticized the FDA's decision to not require labeling of genetically modified animal products as long as there is no change in composition in the final product.
"Consumers have the right to know if the ham, bacon or pork chops they are buying Ö have been engineered with mouse genes," said Jean Halloran, director of food policy initiatives at Consumers Union.
Already, companies are lining up to introduce a wide variety of modified animals, from salmon that grow twice as fast as normal to pigs with meat high in omega-3 fatty acids, cows resistant to mad cow disease and animals that produce pharmaceutical products such as insulin in their milk. Researchers have also expressed interest in engineering animals that grow human organs for transplant.
