New satellite imagery of the Sun is providing scientists with clues to understanding the long-standing mystery of what is heating up the solar corona. The 2006 launch of the multinational Hinode satellite changed the picture of the Sun for astrophysicists. For two astrophysicists in particular, the resulting imagery offered a voyage of discovery and the thrill of unraveling a long-held solar mystery.

The Earth's atmosphere can obscure the view of unaided ground-based telescopes, but, unimpeded by this problem, the high-resolution telescope flying on Hinode captures images of the Sun in unparalleled detail. It is in these new images that Scott McIntosh, Bart De Pontieu, Viggo Hansteen and Karel Schrijver found the first tantalizing clues that led them to a new way of considering why the solar corona is millions of degrees hotter than the Sun's visible surface.

During a 2008 scientific meeting about Hinode--when a colleague discussed seeing a subtle 100-plus kilometer per second upward velocity component in a coronal region with a strong magnetic field--that De Pontieu and McIntosh caught each other's eye, thinking exactly the same thing: Were they possibly seeing evidence of radices (point of origin) reaching coronal temperatures?

Equation: Sunspots => Solar Flares => Magnetic Field Shift => Shifting Ocean and Jet Stream Currents => Extreme Weather and Human Disruption (Battros 1998)

Not only did this work provide Lockheed Martin's Solar and Astrophysics Laboratory's McIntosh, De Pontieu, and Schrijver but also University of Oslo's Hansteen the thrill of discovery, and the excitement of tracing their idea to a breath-taking conclusion, their effort has direct implications for climate research on Earth.

NASA To Launch Latest High-Tech Weather Satellite

As part of a new understanding of the Sun-Earth connection, scientists have ramped up their workforce which includes new spacecrafts launched in space to monitor a spectrum of charged particles known as solar flares and coronal mass ejections (CME's).

The science community has discovered there is a far greater interplay between celestial particles and natural phenomena such as earthquakes, volcanoes, hurricanes, tornadoes, wind shears, straight-line winds, micro-burst, among various forms of extreme weather.

The United States is poised to launch the latest in its family of high-tech meteorological satellites that watch storm development and weather conditions on Earth from high in space. The launch window for the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite-P (GOES-P) will open at 6:17 pm (2317 GMT) on Thursday and close an hour later, US space agency NASA said in a statement.

Mitch Battros Research on Sun-Earth Connection and 2012

Mitch Battros presents fascinating, and sometimes shocking, research from the world's top scientists. After years of dialogue with these experts, Mitch has been accepted into the guarded halls of NASA, NOAA, ESA, Royal Observatory, the US Naval Observatory and other highly esteemed scientific bodies. In addition to the latest research on the Sun's influence on our "weather", Mitch also presents ground-breaking evidence of how the Sun and other celestial orbs produce 'charged particles' and their impact on humanity.

Just as the Sun's solar activity affects the Earth's magnetic field which has a dramatic affect on Earth's weather i.e. earthquakes, floods, volcanoes, hurricanes; so does this wave of electrical currents affect the human body's magnetic field. Mitch also reveals a little-known development from modern medicine known as Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). TMS provides empirical evidence of how magnetic fields can influence human emotions.

Solar Cycle 24 has begun - and it has been predicted by NASA, NOAA and ESA to be up to 50% stronger than its 'record breaking' predecessor Cycle 23 which produced the largest solar flare ever recorded. The Sun will reach its 'apex' (maximum) in late 2011 into 2012.

"I believe it will be the magnetic influence produced by the Sun which will usher in what is described by our ancient ancestors as "the transition" bringing us to a new state-of-being". (Mitch Battros)

Did a meteorite shower have any effect on Chili's Earthquake and could the Meteors also play a role in what witnesses claimed the saw when sky turned and changed colors?

Fireball over Hungary - Hungarian Translator Needed

7 hours ago - There is a report out of a fireball over Hungary and the report is in Hungarian. Haven't been able to find any English reports yet. ...
Indeed, there was a significant amount of sighting of that the phenomenon all-over Hungary.
According to the news, an extremely bright object, like a strange ball of fire flown trough the eastern part of the country.
The phenomenon, lite up the whole sky where it has passed trough and some of the spectators pointed out that even it's tail was visible.
The object considered to be a "Bolide".
There are some officially unconfirmed information regarding it's impact crater, situated in Slovakia:

Fireball over Duluth!

A bright meteor blazes across the Bowl of the Big Dipper several years back. Photo: Bob King

Were you one of the lucky ones to see the brilliant, flaming object plunge over the region about 7:15 p.m. last night? People all the way from Cook County along Lake Superior's North Shore to Duluth to the Spooner area in northern Wisconsin all reported seeing what appears to be the same object. Audrey Monicken, who lives on Park Point, said she was watching TV when she caught the sight.

"I saw a flaming thing come down out of the sky," she said, and described the object as about the size of a mattress with red flames. From her vantage point, Monicken said the object seemed to disappear in the middle of the bay.

Then we have this description from Wendy Hamm:

"My daughter and I were driving across the Bong Bridge (heading to Superior) when we saw the object in the sky which was on its way down (large, green with red on the bottom and the size of an average round dinner table). It appeared to land in the water/ice in between the Bong Bridge and railroad bridge or possibly where the old Arrowhead Bridge was located. Someone might want to check that area out. And I thought objects from space always landed in the ocean!!"

Brad Wick with the Duluth Police Department checked with the Duluth International Airport in case the object was a plane in distress, but no planes were in the area at the time. So what was it? The most likely explanation is a brilliant meteor called a fireball. In a lifetime you might see a half dozen of these spectacular sights, but they occur somewhere over Earth every day and night.

Every meteor or "shooting star" you see is a fragment of a comet or asteroid. The small ones might only be the size of grain of sand, but the larger ones like last night's can range from pebble-sized to many meters. While still in outer space, fragments destined to become a meteors are called meteoroids. When they enter Earth's atmosphere at speeds from 25,000 to 160,000 mph, they vaporize in a bright flash, creating a brilliant trail we see as a meteor. Because they're so bright and with no ready clues to their true distance, we're usually tricked into thinking meteors are very close by. If one happens to fade out over your downtown you might think it fell on Main Street. In reality meteors burn up some 70 miles over our heads -- and that's if you see one straight up at the top of the sky. If you're watching a fireball off in one direction or another, you have to add in the horizontal distance between you and the object. A more typical distance between you and a bright meteor would be closer to a hundred miles or more.

The outer layer of most meteorites is melted during atmospheric entry and converted to a black "fusion crust" like this stony meteorite displays. Photo: Bob King

If a meteor is large enough to survive the friction and pressure of atmospheric entry and lands in pieces on the ground it's called a meteorite. A meteor destined to become a meteorite usually fades out about 30 miles above the ground and continues in "dark fall" until it strikes the ground. The larger the object falling, the more likely it will create a sonic boom or rumblings like cannon fire on its way down. Did anyone out there hear anything at the time? Could fragments have reached the ground? Unless someone actually sees and hears the objects falling nearby, chances are that this meteor -- if it did produce meteorites -- will be extremely difficult to find. Most fireballs produce a great show but vaporize to dust. Given the vast surface area of the Earth, meteorites land with regularity, but actual witnessed meteorite falls are uncommon. On average meteorites from falls are recovered only about five to ten times a year.

Let's assume for a moment that last night's fireball made it all the way down. How would we go about finding it? We'd have to gather many eyewitness reports of brightness, time and direction of travel and then triangulate a possible fall location. Meteorite hunters would then "work" the area with their eyes and metal detectors to look for fresh, black, rounded and fragmented rocks. The black coating on a fresh meteorite is called fusion crust and the result of frictional heating during its plummit through the atmosphere. Fusion crust is only a couple millimeters thick; the inside of the meteorite still holds onto the chill of outer space. Most meteorites contain iron-nickel metal which a properly tuned metal detector can detect. Another more recent technique is using Doppler weather radar to pick up the dust and debris trail from a falling meteor. Precise data like that is invaluable in helping to pinpoint the fall location.

More info HERE.

Doppler was used to help find last year's well-publicized Ash Creek fall last February near West, Texas. Needless to say, it's a lot easier to find meteorite fragments if you're searching farm fields and open prairie than a region covered by forests and lakes!

All this time I've been talking meteor fragments but there's also the small possibility the flaming object was a piece of manmade space junk. I haven't seen any postings on a listserv on the subject but a small piece coming down could easily mimic a meteor.

If you have any additional information about the object that fell, please click on the Comments link below and share your story with us. And if you have a photo, we're crazy to see it. Thanks!

In videos recorded during the earthquake in Chile (like the one accompanying this post) that occurred on February 27 has drawn attention for quite some lights (or flashes) that appear in the sky. The issue has sparked immediately all sorts of conspiracy theories about the origin or cause of the earthquake and its intensity. Seems to be popular, especially, blame the HAARP (High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program) of almost any natural phenomenon, without apparent reason or proof.

Nothing could be further from the truth. The lights in the sky or earthquake lights have been reported throughout history, in fact no record of such observations in ancient writings of Greece dating from the year 373 BC, although for much of the twentieth century considered a myth, in the 60 photographs were taken of this phenomenon during an earthquake in Japan.

Then the lights were observed on video during the earthquake in Peru on 15 August 2007 that had an intensity of 8 degrees on the Richter scale. But according to the USGS the most comprehensive modern study of light occurred in the seismic tremors in Saguenay, Quebec in 1988 and 1989, where at least 46 reports have been well documented before the big earthquake that happened two months later.

The problem (and what triggers many conspiracy theories) is that there is still no satisfying explanation to investigators. The unconvincing include:

* The friction on the fault turns heated gases or particles in the sky. But the quantities of gas are minimal.

* Radon gas is released by fracturing of mineral grains that ionize the air. The problem is that gas is not enough.
* Minerals that respond to light or mechanical stress generates an electrical charge. Nor is light enough to fire.
Quartz crystals generate voltage, but the resulting electrical currents are canceled on the rocks.
* Fluid moving in narrow fractures that tend to generate electric charge, the problem is that the resulting energy is very weak.

But a new theory made more acceptable by Friedemann Freund, a physicist geologist, who is very well explained by Andrew Alden (translation by Miguel Vera) which is related to electron holes:

While the rocks are insulators, has been shown in laboratory experiments that they are good conductors of electricity on its surface. This phenomenon was discovered by physicist Friedemann Freund mineralogist. He realized that the mineral grains in rocks are full of imperfections, as they have oxygen atoms in an imperfect ionized, forming the so-called p-holes, which carry a burden similar to that of an electron, but opposite (positive)

In laboratory tests it was found that in rocks outdoors-p holes tend to move and look at their surface, generating conductivity. In the presence of an effort, the holes-p is activated and can move through some types of rocks (igneous and metamorphic rocks).

During an earthquake can be released into the crust a cloud of p-holes due to seismic effort, which rise through the rocks and appear rising from the earth as solid-state plasma, whose effects include earthquake lights, infrared emissions detected from space, radio waves, noise, disturbances in the upper atmosphere, and even bizarre behavior of animals and even human premonitions.

Eventually the earthquake lights are a fascinating phenomenon and sometimes spectacular as the lightning, just your home still has challenges and a way to determine its true origin. It is irresponsible not to apply empirical reasoning and try to explain through silly conspiracy theories and baseless.

Yes, it is clear that there is a technical relationship / scientifico-ray of transport connections and earthquakes.

Yes, it is clear that there are only (?) A girl "journalist" report of Chile on this phenomena, which may be a partial hoax or exaggeration of Reality TV to become famous.

Yes, it is clear that the days before and COUNTRY AFTER the earthquake in Chile, there is one exception to all land resonance 2.5-3Hz measured by HAARP facility in Alaska. The same step before Haiti earthquake and tsunami before big of years past.
http://maestro.haarp.alaska.edu/cgi-bin/scmag/disp-scmag.cgi

But the frequency begins another look at the end of March 2nd and continues until right now, likely will be one thing if a continuous earthquake neuvo this frequency.

Very suspeciosa is that some scientist digeron adier going to arrive at a quick Haiti neuvo earthquake center in Puerto Prince (NPR radio?). Normally, this prediction is not possible.

HAARP Induction Magnetometer Signals Recording for Mar 2nd-4th
New very exceptional 2-3Hz vibrations normally only seen before the Chile, Haiti and the famous tsunami quakes, begun at the end of March 2nd. and are continuing untill right now.

In the former cases, a major earthquake happened after 3 or more days these kinds of resonance. That could be in line with Tesla's theories, that one needs one frequency and then the earth in time is going to resonate more and more. Nothing is known publicly(?) about focussing such a possibe weapon on a certain place instead of the earth as a whole. But Tesla also tried to sell focused energy weapons.

Like that its very suspicious 'scientists' (on NPR?) were sure a new and stronger quake will happen soon on Haiti and more near the centre of Puerto Prince.

Notice the Expolsion sounds in the footage and how they occur the exact times of the Earthquakes both in Taiwan 6.4 on the 3rd and again in Chili a 6.3 on the 4th?

The image in this video is a time-frequency spectrogram, which shows the frequency content of signals recorded by the HAARP Induction Magnetometer. This instrument, provided by the University of Tokyo, measures temporal variations in the geomagnetic field in the ULF (ultra-low frequency) range of 0-5 Hz. The spectrogram images are produced by computing the PSD (power spectral density) of successive 102.4-second segments of timeseries data, and plotting these spectra as color/intensity slices along a 24-hour scale. If the images below is not too interesting, you might want to look at 02 Sep 2004 for an example of narrowband PC1 pulsations, or 27 Jul 2004 for an example of wideband ULF noise during a magnetic substorm. Expanded plots of the last 12 hours, last 6 hours, last 3 hours, and last 1 hour are also available.
