Yellowstone National Park has been rattled by more than 250 earthquakes in the past two days following a period of 11 months of quiet seismic activity in the park.

The quakes have been gaining strength, with a 3.1 tremor recorded at 11:03 a.m. today. A 2.9 quake was recorded at 12:38 p.m.

Prof. Robert B. Smith, a geophysicist at the University of Utah and one of the leading experts on earthquake and volcanic activity at Yellowstone, said that the activity is a "notable swarm."

"The swarm is located about 10 miles northwest of Old Faithful, Wyo., and nine miles southeast of West Yellowstone, Montana," said Smith.

Jamie Farrell, a doctoral student in geophysics who works with Smith at the University of Utah, said that as of 3 p.m. today, 270 quakes have been recorded in the past two days.

Farrell said the quakes are occurring in an area about 5 miles from where the largest swarm of quakes was ever recorded in October 1985.

Quakes in the current swarm have ranged in magnitude of 0.5 to 3.1.

Farrell said there have been reports of at least one of the tremors being felt in the park, but he is expecting more reports as the earthquakes continue.

Smith said such swarms are "relatively common." Today's tremors seem to be normal tectonic activity, and is "not an indication" that some sort of volcanic activity will occur.

Since 1995 there have been 80 swarms, including the one that started Sunday, Farrell said.

Farrell said that there is absolutely no connection between what is occurring in Yellowstone and the magnitude 7.0 earthquake in Haiti.

"They are completely different systems," said Farrell. "They are not related."

In late December 2008 and early January 2009, Yellowstone National park experienced the second largest earthquake swarm in Yellowstone's recorded seismic history. The swarm under the north end of Yellowstone Lake consisted of 813 earthquakes with magnitudes ranging up to 3.9.

The most devastating earthquake in recent history in the Yellowstone region occurred on Aug. 17, 1959, when a magnitude 7.3 earthquake hit. It was centered near Hebgen Lake, Mont., killed 28 people and caused more than $11 million in damage.

Mike Stickney, director of earthquake studies at the Montana Bureau of Mines and Geology, said there is no way to predict when the next big one will hit.

He said it will likely occur along one of the 45 faults that line two belts - one stretching from Yellowstone National Park up to Helena, Mont., and a second one along the Montana-Idaho border.

A very unusual deletion can be observed in the archived data of HAARP
instrument readings from the day before the Haiti earthquake.
Perhaps it is a matter of time until it will get fixed with a simple copy-paste
operation, but I have made screen shots of it).

Set the date in "Chart Archives" below the today's graph to 2001/Jan/
11 in the window below the graph and see for your selves. It is the only
instance of such an occurrence I have discovered by looking through
other historical dates. Perhaps some other deletions have already been
fixed, I can think of date like May 12th 2008 or December 26th 2004.

Mayan Interview Complete
I just had a second interview with Carlos Barrios, Mayan elder of the the 'Clan de Aguila' (the Eagle clan). As part of my personal learning curve, I need to be very careful how I present breaking news events, and even more so when I present prophecy and predictions.

Why? Because the prophecy and predictions I present here on ECM has a high accuracy rate. This is not by coincidence - it is by devoting endless hours to research, and maintaining the highest level of credibility and integrity. In other words, if you read it here you will know it came from the highest ranking officials in the science community. Just as importantly is my association with the astronomical community - which btw detects some 90 percent of bolides coming our way.

Remember: Our discussion and my message to you came before two of the events had occurred.

1) Haiti which is near the Puerto Rico Subduction Zone. But note: this event is not the one which has been envisioned. It will be a larger quake measuring in the 9 + magnitude on the east side of Puerto Rico directly along the line of the Subduction Zone. A tsunami will be created and travel northeast towards the US east coast.

2) The closest asteroid ever recorded occurred just days after our interview and notice to the public. It was no more than 24 hours before it was detected.

Now please ... also remember that Carlos and every elder of many ancient tribes I have spoke with or studied have all left this message: "Change is coming, but we are not helpless. We have the power to change the path of our personal and collective journey."

My personal view is events will happen for a specific reason. The events to come are not here to 'punish' us; it is here to 'help' us. It will bring us back to a healthy state of community. Perhaps the events are a necessary step directing us back to the pathway of finding "the purpose of the human being."

All this to say one thing ... It is important to be discerning with information that is presented to you. What I am about to tell you is uncomfortable; it is also potential dangerous to those who are prone to become overwhelmed or trigger past trauma's. There really is such a thing as "disaster fatigue". Although disaster fatigue is most often directed to the person "in the event", it can also affect those who witness it ... and yes, this means even by television, computer, or newspaper.

Here are the topics we discussed. This is where it gets a little uncomfortable:

"It Has Begun" was one of the first things Carlos said in our first interview which occurred "before" Haiti. He mentioned it again in our second. I have put the two audios together, putting part of the second interview in the front. Carlos starts with a prayer spoken in the Mayan native tongue. He later explained much of the prayer is to bring harmony, to us as individuals, collectively as a nation, and to mother earth.

"We are out of balance. We need to say a prayer for the Earth. She is warning us - and we are out of time". Carlos tells us 2010 shows a distinct progression in earth changing events. "There will be more earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanoes, typhoons this year. We need to pray for harmony - This is the purpose of our current transition."

Carlos went on to say something which grabbed my attention. "We need to find the purpose of the human being." It was the way he said it, and the context in which it was presented. It's not really new; we have heard the saying for many years: "we are spiritual beings having a human experience." Maybe it is because we are so much closer to experience 'the experience' that it just feels different.

The Mystery of Santa Rosalia

Statement with video: Many witnesses claim they saw Santa Rosalia appear in the caves of the famous hermit in the ruins in Sicily. Others, however, see an image far from reassuring and admit that they have come across a black hooded figure. The young people recorded these disturbing images.

NOTE: There was a rumor a few years ago that a group of pilgrims disappeared in the cave of Santa Rosalia. Of course, believers would say that this is impossible since saints only represent 'good'. Honestly, I don't know if the rumor has anything to do with this video. Back in the early 1980's, I was told of a woman who swore that she witnessed a being in the grotto when she was a child...saying it was shrouded in a hooded black robe with skeletal hands and feet. SANTA ROSALIA, PATRON SAINT OF PALERMO


Saint Rosalia (1130–1166), also called La Santuzza or "The Little Saint", is the patron saint of Palermo, Sicily, El Hatillo, Venezuela, and Zuata, Anzoategui, Venezuela.

Devoutly religious, she retired to live as a hermit in a cave on Mount Pellegrino, where she died alone in 1166. Tradition says that she was led to the cave by two angels. On the cave wall she wrote "I, Rosalia, daughter of Sinibald, Lord of Roses, and Quisquina, have taken the resolution to live in this cave for the love of my Lord, Jesus Christ."

In 1624, a horrible plague haunted Palermo, and during this hardship St Rosalia appeared first to a sick woman, then to a hunter to whom she indicated where her remains were to be found. She ordered him to bring her bones to Palermo and have them carried in procession through the city.

The hunter climbed the mountain and found her bones in the cave as described. He did what she had asked in the apparition, and after the procession the plague ceased. After this St Rosalia would be venerated as the patron saint of Palermo, and a sanctuary was built in the cave where her remains were discovered.

Santa Rosalia, clearly holds a special place in the hearts of many Sicilians. During the first week of June every year in Santo Stefano Quisquina, there is a special celebration to commemorate her miraculous intervention that saved Palermo from the Black Plague. Rosalia was the daughter of Duke Sinibaldo, Lord of the Quisquina and the Roses, who was a cousin of King William II of Sicily. Like Saint Francis of Assisi, Rosalia turned her back on a life of ease and chose to devote herself to prayer and solitude. The legend says that in 1159 she retired to a hermetic existence in a remote cave on Monte Pellegrino, the rocky cliff high above the Bay of Palermo. Nothing was heard from her again until 1624, when the plague arrived in Sicily.

Salvation to Sicily came in the unexpected form of La Santuzza, who appeared in a vision to a hunter lost on Monte Pellegrino. "Don't worry," she said "I will protect you and I will protect the city". She revealed to him the site of the cave in which she had lived as a hermit and told him to go back to Palermo and alert the archbishop and rulers of the city. The hunter did as he was instructed, and those leaders found her remains and displayed them through the streets of Palermo. Within three days, the plague ended, and she was proclaimed patron saint of the city.

Archaeologists have unearthed a 2,000-year-old temple that may have been dedicated to the ancient Egyptian cat goddess, Bastet, the Supreme Council of Antiquities said Tuesday.

The ruins of the Ptolemaic-era temple were discovered by Egyptian archaeologists in the heart of the Mediterranean port city of Alexandria, founded by Alexander the Great in the 4th century B.C.

The city was the seat of the Greek-speaking Ptolemaic Dynasty, which ruled over Egypt for 300 years until the suicide of Queen Cleopatra.

The statement said the temple was thought to belong to Queen Berenice, wife of King Ptolemy III who ruled Egypt in the 3rd century B.C.

Mohammed Abdel-Maqsood, the Egyptian archaeologist who led the excavation team, said the discovery may be the first trace of the long-sought location of Alexandria's royal quarter.

The large number of statues depicting Bastet found in the ruins, he said, suggested that this may be the first Ptolemaic-era temple dedicated to the cat goddess to be discovered in Alexandria.

This would indicate that the worship of the ancient Egyptian cat-goddess continued during the later, Greek-influenced, Ptolemaic period, he said.

Statues of other ancient Egyptian deities were also found in the ruins, he added.

Zahi Hawass, Egypt's chief archaeologist, said the temple may have been used in later times as a quarry as evidenced by the large number of missing stone blocks.

Modern Alexandria was built squarely on top of the ruins of the classical-era city and many of its great temples, palaces and libraries remain undiscovered.

The temple was found in the Kom el-Dekkah neighborhood near the city's main train station and home to a Roman-era amphitheater and well preserved mosaics.

The Sun Has Unleashed Its First M-Class Flare of Cycle 24

M-FLARE: Today, Jan. 19th at 1340 UT, Earth-orbiting satellites detected the strongest solar flare in almost two years. The M2-class eruption came from old sunspot 1039, currently located behind the sun's eastern limb. Considering the fact that the sunspot is not even visible from Earth, the flare was probably much stronger than its M2 classification would suggest. Stay tuned for updates!

SOLAR ACTIVITY: Old sunspot 1039 still has some life left in it. On Jan. 17th, it unleashed a strong solar flare and triggered a solar tsunami. Click on the image to set the scene in motion.


The eruption, which took place on the far side of the sun, was invisible from Earth. Nevertheless, NASA's STEREO-B spacecraft had a great view. STEREO-B is stationed over the sun's eastern limb where it can see things that we cannot. The sun's rotation is turning sunspot 1039 back toward our planet and it should emerge over the limb within the next 48 hours. Meanwhile, STEREO-B will continue to monitor developments.

UPDATE: Sunspot 1039 produced another eruption on Jan. 18th around 2036 UT. STEREO-B recorded an ultraviolet flare (movie) and SOHO tracked a bright coronal mass ejection billowing over the sun's eastern limb (movie).

The first solar flare of cycle 24 occurred just hours ago. It comes from sunspot region 1040 unleashing a moderate M-Class flare from the far side of the Sun. This year, we will have new images from all sides of the Sun as a result of the STEREO satellite images. "It Has Begun ......"

Sunspot 1040 and the Haitian Earthquake

The point of this thread is to present to you an observation I made right after the Haitian quake on Jan. 12. I'm making no scientific claims, and I've done no scientific calculations or any extensive research, hence my inclusion of this discussion in the 'Skunk Works' forum....
