18 Sep 2007 The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has begun testing bridge designs -- blowing them up in the search for new technologies [?!?] to make them stronger. Daniel Dayton, a spokesman for Homeland Security’s Science and Technology Directorate, told UPI the work was being done at a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers research laboratory in Vicksburg, Miss.

Were they testing this before I-35 and are publicly announcing it now?
