The U.S. Attorney's office said Derrick Shareef, 23, of Rockford, Illinois, a U.S.-born convert to Islam, pleaded guilty in federal court to one count of attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction. Investigators said he had been under surveillance from the very beginning of his plotting and the public was never in danger.
President Bush Visits Omaha, Leaves Hours Before Shootings
When you step into an elevator, you probably take it for granted. You press the button for the floor you want and up or down you go. Well a Sioux City building has taken elevators to the next level, so to speak.
President Bush was in Omaha early Wednesday and left just an hour before the shootings took place. He came to the Cornhusker state to talk about the Iranian nuclear issue.
Bush said it is clear from the national intelligence estimate that Iran has more to explain, concerning its pursuit of nuclear weapons in 2003.
"Iranians have a strategic choice to make they can come clean with the international community about scope of their nuclear activities. And fully accept the long standing offer and come to the table and negotiate or continue on the path of isolation, that is not in the best interest of the Iranian people. The choice is up to the Iranian regime," Bush says.
In Nebraska, President Bush attended a fundraiser for Mike Johanns who is looking to take the Senate seat vacated by Republican Chuck Hagel. The President also attended a meeting about health care at an Omaha clinic for low-income people.

Police Remove Grenade from Westroads Parking Lot
Omaha, NE - Police removed a grenade from the parking lot outside Westroads Mall late Friday.
Omaha Police say someone found the grenade in the mall parking lot near The Cheesecake Factory. It was still intact - meaning the pin had not been removed. Police say no one was around when they found the grenade. The bomb squad safely removed it from the area.
Police do not have any suspects at this hour.
